Dearest - Old-fashioned but okay.
Sweetheart is patronizing
Honey/Sugar is just tacky ( but then I'm English)
Precious just sounds odd - archaic rather than just old-fashioned.
I have friends who call each other "shithead" as a term of endearment. Whatever works....
"Studly" works well at my house.
